Welcome to Short Stories and Code

Short Stories and Code is a site dedicated to two very different kinds of written word. Short Stories contains a selection of short stories in various genres and of various length. Code contains a selection of tools, examples and tests written in various languages including ASP.NET(VB.NET) and Javascript.

04/07/2010 - I have updated the Short Stories page this time.

I have altered the way the Short Storied page works to make it a bit more iPhone compatable, hopefully. I have also added two new (old?) storied "Darkness" - a longer piece set in sapce. "Feet" - a short piece about a misunderstanding.

No Code updates this time. Basically, I am working a lot at the moment, so haven't been able to focus on personal projects.

Additional: Just added "Exhibition" - a second draft of a more descriptive piece.

19/06/2010 - YcYouClock gets it's own url!

Exciting news everyone, YcYouClock the clock where you can be part of time now has it's own URL! There have been several updates to the underlying code. From here, you are redirected there for a consistent and loving experience. It has it's own like button, so please give that a click.

YouClock is currently [checking]

Today I have also added Penki it is a relatively simple and pointless HTML5 Canvas painting-when-mad simulator

No additional short stories this time.

12/06/2010 - A new piece of Code

Today I have put up V1 of YouClock. A colaborative clock. Not very advanced at the moment, but add photos and it gets more fun! This is based on 'bijin-tokei' that Richard showed me at a recent BBQ on his iPhone.

Lets see how long it is before something BAD happens!

No additional short stories this time, again.

30/05/2010 - The First Code Update

I have decided to move to a compiled .dll for my SQLite access which should help improve some of the speed issues I have hit. Also, you might notice I am trying out some new CSS on these snippets here. I am also considering putting an 'add message' box on this front page, something very live.

No additional short stories this week. Looks like no one is clicking my 'enjoyed' (or not) buttons yet. I will have to start spreading myself about a bit more. I am interested to see how SQLite stacks up under heavier load. I should porbably start tryin to get myself some backlinks as well.

23/05/2010 - More Stories!

A small update this weekend. I have added two new Short Stories. "Ramen" - a story about a Japanese restaraunt, and "River" a very short story about a watching a river.

The M$ Word add-in I coded to save my short stories to the SQLite DB I use works quite nicely, however, more work is needed. I have also noticed that I need some image-preloading for the navigation buttons so solve the 'blank' issue.

Also, please click my like button: top right.

16/05/2010 - Update!

New features added to the Short Stories section. You can now add comments, be nice! I am particularly pleased with the code of the CAPTCHA feature, it is not your standard scribbled letters.

There are a couple of new short stories now avaliable, "Check in" a short story about checking into a hotel, and "A conserve for meat or cheese." a story about a lonelyness.

Nothing new in Code this time I am afraid.
